Following the Christchurch earthquakes, the owners were forced to leave their home on Clifton Hill in search of a new property to start again. This property was purchased, and the journey began. Having worked with the family on previous projects the decision to work with Gregg Builders was easily made and together we commenced planning. Athfield Architects, who also had worked with the clients previously, were tasked with the design.

The home is comprised of three separate wings on split levels along with other amenity buildings on the property. The industrial feel of the home is felt throughout with the use of raw materials like exposed galvanised steel and concrete, complemented with Alaskan yellow cedar windows and doors, and NZ white pine ceilings and joinery. Every room in this home is different, making it interesting and quirky.

The three wings are made up of a large split-level garage, a three-storey bedroom wing, and a living wing that is the hub of the home with the kitchen, dining and lounge on the bottom floor, and master bedroom on the top floor. These two wings are cleverly joined by an atrium and bridge which allows you to pass between the two buildings with ease.

The home sits perfectly within its surroundings, with established trees, beautiful gardens and plenty of space to entertain friends and family. Relaxing in the sun-drenched courtyard with a pizza in the oven and a beer in hand - there really is no better place to be.
